Professor Chris Timpone is the owner and head instructor at Viper's Den BJJ in Fair Lawn, NJ. Born and raised locally, Chris founded Viper's Den on the belief that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu should be accessible to everyone.
Chris holds a 1st-Degree BJJ Black Belt under Karel "Silver Fox" Pravec, a Renzo Gracie black belt, beginning his journey in 2013 and training from white belt to black belt under the same instructor. His Gracie lineage traces directly through Mitsuyo Maeda, Carlos Gracie, Helio Gracie, Carlos Gracie Jr., Renzo Gracie, and Karel Pravec.
Before BJJ, Chris brought 16 years of competitive wrestling experience to the mat — a foundation that shapes the unique complete grappling system taught at Viper's Den, blending Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with wrestling fundamentals for self-defense, sport, and personal growth.
Chris leads every class personally, and his coaching focuses on proper technique, real-world application, and the development of each student as a martial artist and as a person.
